Telus International Inc and Singapore Computer Systems Ltd. Form Strategic Partnership to Invest in Ambergris Solutions

A new joint venture company will be set up to invest in Ambergris Solutions, a leading call center in the Philippines.

Telus International Inc. (TI) and Singapore Computer Systems (SCS) will set up a joint venture company, TISCS Pte. Ltd. (TISCS), to invest in a 70% interest in Ambergris Solutions Incorporated, which has a 100%-owned subsidiary, Ambergris Solutions Philippines Inc. (Ambergris). This investment will strengthen SCSÂ’ ability to deploy business process outsourcing (BPO) services.

The deal values Ambergris, which operates three Philippine call centers, containing 1,800 production seats, at US$43.5 million. Ambergris specializes in providing inbound customer care and sales solutions to US Fortune 500 companies in the utilities, IT, travel and hospitality and financial services industries.

Ambergris, which boasts more than 2,500 Manila-based employees, has a strategic relationship with Harte-Hanks (NYSE:HHS) to provide a range of high-quality contact center solutions servicing international markets. This relationship has been in place since the founding of Ambergris in 2002, and has included the joint development of systems and processes as well as combined training programs.

Ambergris, which expects to add over 1,000 new production seats and close to 2,000 new jobs over the course of 2005, intends to work closely with its new partners to open new markets in the Philippines and offer additional services, particularly non-voice back office services.
