Chef Don Curtiss, of the internationally acclaimed Volterra restaurant, today announced his signature fennel salt will be made publicly available through partnership with Ritrovo., after unveiling it to rave reviews at the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco last month. Volterra’s Fennel Salt will proudly be labeled as A RITROVO SELECTION and will join the ‘…&Salt’ line. Fennel Salt can now be found in the Seattle area at select Metropolitan Markets, Ballard Market, and Bella Cosa and nationally at specialty grocers, such as The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills.
“Ritrovo is proud to add Curtiss’ masterpiece to the products that carry the label ‘A Ritrovo Selection.’” says Ron Post, co-owner of Ritrovo. “These products represent the union of Italy’s finest, traditional raw materials with innovation and inspiration for the American specialty food consumer. The addition of Chef Don Curtiss’ Fennel Salt also emphasizes Ritrovo’s interest in supporting regional artisans here at home.”
The boldly flavored Fennel Salt, inspired by Curtiss’ travels throughout Italy, is made with freshly toasted, organic fennel seed, organic orange peel, and other traditional flavors of the Italian peninsula. Fennel salt is a staple at Volterra along with Ritrovo import Trampetti Extra Virgin olive oil and is served as an accompaniment to the bread service.
“We are pleased to partner with Ritrovo to bring Volterra’s signature Fennel Salt to grocers and specialty food stores nationwide,” said Michelle Quisenberry, managing partner of Volterra. “We recommend our Fennel Salt for meat and seafood dishes, and it’s also incredible sprinkled on potatoes and eggs.”
Volterra -- open for dinner every night and brunch on weekends -- features seasonal Tuscan specialties, all natural and organic meats and poultry, and housemade pasta. The 75-seat restaurant also features a warm-weather patio, late-night dining in the bar, an extensive list of Italian and local wines by the bottle or glass, and housemade limoncello.
