ColoradoARTportraits, a Photo Studio on Wheels, Redefines Portraiture for the 21st Century

ColoradoARTportraits, a Photo Studio on Wheels, Redefines Portraiture for the 21st Century

While most photo studios create headshots, ColoradoARTportraits takes a new approach to portraiture and crafts an image that captures personality and creates a hip "magazine-style" storytelling photograph.

Westcliffe, CO (PRWEB) January 24, 2004 -

COLORADO ART PORTRAITS, a traveling photography studio by award-winning photographer Kenneth Wajda, is redefining what it means to have your portrait made.

This is no ordinary portrait sitting!

Wajda is not known for the typical portrait set in a stuffy studio against a painted background or a pull-down window shade background depicting a flowery window scene. Oh, no!

Wajda goes on location and crafts the image to capture a personality and tell a story. And he should know. He’s been shooting portraits for newspapers and magazines for the past 16 years and as he’s quick to say, “the last thing the art director or photo director wants is a boring headshot.”

ItÂ’s no wonder his work has often been described as "magazine-style" portraits, like those seen in Vanity Fair or Entertainment Weekly.

“I really don’t know how to shoot a dull portrait. No matter what the situation, I have to find some way to add a touch of humanity to the image, to reveal the character that’s posed in front of my lens–that's what I do,” Wajda said. “It takes time, it's a lot of work, but it's all about the final image.”

Often, he works in interesting locations, either the clientÂ’s home or workplace or studio. (He photographs a lot of musicians and artists.) Sometimes he creates the image through the use of dynamic lighting. (He's a master of lighting.)

He also shoots in beautiful, natural locations which are so abundant in Colorado. “There are a number of local parks that are excellent locations for photography,” Wajda said. “I know of good outdoor portrait locations in Westcliffe, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Denver,

Boulder, Aspen and Glenwood Springs but I’m always open to going to a new area that is meaningful to the client.”

"I'll go wherever I have to go get the shot. And I'll wait until the most opportune time, too," Wajda said. "If you're a fashion model, I'd rather wait until you're up on the catwalk under the lights to make the photograph, than shoot it now in your living room. I photograph people and their passions."

"This is my passion!"

COLORADO ART PORTRAITS serves Colorado Springs, Pueblo, the Front Range and the Western Slope with fine art portraits of artists, actors, models, children, pets, high school seniors, engagement couples “and anyone who wants a portrait that captures who they really are.”

Photo sessions have also taken the studio on the road to New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and Kansas.
