Word Among Us to Minister in Southeast Asia

Word Among Us to Minister in Southeast Asia

Gail Knox, founder of Word Among Us Ministries, is traveling to Southeast Asia to teach pastors, students, missionaries and teachers how to study the Bible.

TULSA, OK (PRWEB) February 21, 2008

Gail Knox, founder of Word Among Us Ministries (http://www. gailknox. org (http://www. gailknox. org)), is taking time off from her informational seminars and Bible studies to travel to Southeast Asia to teach pastors, students, missionaries and teachers how to study the Bible.

A pastor-evangelist from a nation in Southeast Asia contacted Knox through the Word Among Us Web site, inviting her to share her revolutionary Bible study techniques with church leaders there.

"We feel as if God opened a door of opportunity for us to teach some simple study techniques to people who have limited access to study tools, reference resources, or specific instruction on how to study God's Word," said Knox. "By teaching leaders in the Church, we leave behind a legacy that will continue teaching others in the years to come."

This is not the first mission trip Knox has participated in, although it will be the first time she has gone to Southeast Asia. Over the years, she has traveled to Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica. For 20 years, she has been teaching and writing Bible studies and given seminars on how to best study the Bible. Her Bible study series, called the Easy-to-Learn Inductive Bible Studies, focuses on using scripture to interpret scripture so that the Bible is read in context, without outside influence or bias.

"Many times, if you do a Bible study, the leader will interpret the scriptures read through his own experience, which can lead to confusion and misinterpretation," Knox said. "By using scripture to interpret scripture, you can remove outside influence and get nearer to the heart of what the Word is saying."

Knox will equip the participants of her Southeast Asia seminar with these study techniques in hopes that they can then spread the Word to the other people in their country. She and Word Among Us will also return to the nation in following years to teach in a Bible school that is scheduled to be completed in June 2008.

"Our hope is to expand our ministry beyond U. S. borders into countries that desperately need training because of a lack of Bible study resources," Knox said. "The only requirement of a host nation is a hunger in its people for learning how to study the Word of God. With our study technique, the student learns to let scripture interpret scripture and, hence, the only resource ever needed is the Bible."
