Xlibris, the leading self-publishing services provider, announced today the release of One Sailor’s Journey: Tales from World War II. In this engaging book, author Dolph Brostrom takes readers aboard a ship of memories.
Brostrom’s carefree adolescent years in California were suddenly altered by the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Shocked and filled with concern and disbelief, he and his friends later enlisted in the armed services. That was the beginning of his fascinating life in the U. S. Navy. He relives years that were adventurous, colorful, turbulent, sometimes sober and sometimes hilarious. Through vivid narration, Brostrom collects in this release narratives that range from the end of the Great Depression and the bombing of Pearl Harbor to the end of World War II. It chronicles the events—as seen through the eyes of the young Brostrom—of the Big Band Era and of his service with Ship Repair AD 40 in New Caledonia and other parts of the South Pacific. His experiences and adventures in Australia captivate you as you meet the hearty and courageous people he encountered. With the enemy just off their shores, the Australians and the United States formed enduring bonds of friendship.
Backed up with nostalgic photographs, maps and illustrations, One Sailor’s Journey: Tales from World War II documents one man’s incredible journey of friendship, brotherhood, romance, and patriotism. It rivets readers with a celebration of the life well lived amid turmoil. This book will be featured at this year’s New York Library Association Book Exhibit in Saratoga Springs, NY on November 2-5, 2010. For more information, log on to Xlibris. com.
