Heritage Galleries Announces March Auction of Vintage Posters

Announcement of major sale of vintage posters, WW I and II posters, ski posters, World's Fair posters, travel posters, circus posters

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) February 26, 2005

Heritage Celebrates the Art of the Vintage Poster in March! Heritage Vintage Movie Posters (HVMP) will present an exceptional selection of vintage war, travel, exposition circus and other posters in their upcoming auction, to be held March 17 &18 in Dallas, Texas.

"This is our first foray into this exciting field of poster collecting," said Grey Smith, Director of HVMP. "With the invaluable assistance of Rudy and Barbara Franchi, longtime dealers in collectible ephemera and well-known for their appearances on PBS' Antiques Roadshow, we've managed to put together a stunning assortment of vintage material that is sure to cause a great deal of excitement in the collecting community."

"There are a number of images in this sale that will be instantly recognizable to almost anyone," continued Smith. "James Montgomery Flagg's classic "I Want You" recruitment poster (http://www. heritagemovieposters. com/common/view_item. php? Sale_No=613&Lot_No=28134 (http://www. heritagemovieposters. com/common/view_item. php? Sale_No=613&Lot_No=28066 (http://www. heritagemovieposters. com/common/view_item. php? Sale_No=613&Lot_No=28066)) being a close second."

"Less well known, but no less beautiful," said Smith, "are a selection of ski posters from the 1920s and 30s, a selection of 20 Italian travel posters issued by the Italian Railroad system during the Fascist regime, a group of large 1930s circus posters (http://www. heritagemovieposters. com/common/view_item. php? Sale_No=613&Lot_No=28196 (http://www. heritagemovieposters. com/common/view_item. php? Sale_No=613&Lot_No=28196)), and a recently discovered trove of unique late 19th century vaudeville and sideshow one sheets and three sheets (http://www. heritagemovieposters. com/common/view_item. php? Sale_No=613&Lot_No=28113 (http://www. heritagemovieposters. com/common/view_item. php? Sale_No=613&Lot_No=28113))."

Also included in the auction are a large number of posters with art by such noted designers as Milton Glaser, Paul Davis, Al Hirschfeld and Seymour Chwast, which were commissioned by Mobil Oil to promote the PBS series, Masterpiece Theater and Mystery.

Elite Meetings International (http://www. elitemeetings. com/) (EMI) has launched an effort to gain exposure for the Keep America Meeting Campaign. In partnership with U. S. Travel Association and industry leaders from key organizations, Elite Meetings International is encouraging its corporate-planner users, representatives from its 800+ Elite Certified hotels, and numerous other industry connections to participate in the grassroots effort aimed at drawing attention to the important role meetings play in building successful businesses, as well as the vital role meetings, events, and incentive travel play in the American economy.

"Meetings and events have an important place in our economy," says EMI CEO Kelly Foy, "and we're committed to doing everything we can to raise awareness of that fact. Working as we do with a broad spectrum of both planners and hoteliers gives us a unique perspective on how the recent economic events affect this industry."

To support the effort, Elite Meetings International is reaching out to the planners who frequent EliteMeetings. com, to the 800+ Elite Certified hotels found on the site, to its proprietary database of meeting decision makers, and to groups in Facebook, Linkedin, and the EliteMeetings. com forum.

Elite Meetings International supports the grassroots effort on behalf of the U. S. meetings and events industry, which, according to the U. S. Travel Association, accounts for 15 percent of all travel-related spending, creates nearly $16 billion in tax revenue at the federal, state, and local level, and generates more than one million jobs. Without the jobs generated by meetings, events, and incentive travel, the current unemployment rate of 7.6 percent would rise to 8.2 percent and cost the average American household an additional $136 in taxes annually.

The campaign asks supporters to go to its www. keepamericameeting. org Web site and sign an online petition. The petition signatures will be delivered by Keep America Meeting to the U. S. Travel Association and industry leaders from key organizations to fuel industry-wide efforts with the White House and the U. S. Congress.

Keep America Meeting was created by TBA Global in partnership with the U. S. Travel Association with support from the Event Marketing Institute. It is endorsed by a non-partisan group of associations, publishers and companies. Organizations interested in becoming a Keep America Meeting endorser agree to fully promote the cause and can sign up on the Keep America Meeting Web site.

Le Meridien Chicago Earns Fin On HotelShark. com

HotelShark. com, the worldÂ’s most-trusted online lodging guide, awarded its eighth Chicago fin to Le Meridien Chicago. The fin is the second awarded to a Chicago hotel by HotelShark. com this month.

Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) June 22, 2005

HotelShark. com, the worldÂ’s most-trusted online lodging guide, awarded its eighth Chicago fin to Le Meridien Chicago. HotelShark. com gives fins to properties that are positively reviewed by guests on www. hotelshark. com.

A recent guest of Le Meridien Chicago cheered its “immaculate” guestrooms, “wonderful” linens, and “tranquil” environment. The complete review may be found at the http://hotelshark. com/chicago/lem. htm (http://hotelshark. com/chicago/lem. htm) Internet address.

Le Meridien Chicago is the second fin awarded to a Chicago hotel by HotelShark. com this month. Last week HotelShark. com awarded a fin to the Allerton Crowne Plaza. Other finned properties in HotelShark. comÂ’s Chicago section include the Fairmont Chicago, the Peninsula Chicago, the Best Western Inn of Chicago, the Essex Inn, the Lennox Suites Hotel, and the Raphael Chicago.

HotelShark. com awards fins to hotels that are reviewed, on the whole, positively by guests. A fin appears as a small, gray icon to the left of a hotelÂ’s name within a given city index. The fin system gives travelers a quick way to find well-liked hotels within a given city.

Neither HotelShark. com nor its parent SharkPage is affiliated with any of the aforementioned properties or their parent companies.
