Author and journalist Amelia Painter and Bed & Breakfast American will debut in the premier September issue the first of a series of innkeeper interviews by the Iowa-based author.
Painter, who will be added to Bed & Breakfast America's masthead as a contributing writer, will work directly with the publisher, Pegi Brown and the magazine's Creative Director, Clark Brown, on the creation and presentation of her travel stories.
"This opportunity with Bed & Breakfast America to author my own series of innkeeper interviews is exactly where I would like to be at this point in my life and career," Painter said. "I'm very excited to have my work published in a magazine that is in its early developmental stages, as I look forward to helping it grow and mature in ways that will ultimately be of great service to its readers as well as innkeepers across the country.
"This is a great opportunity, and the relationship with Bed & Breakfast America is certainly very exciting for me," Painter said, "but it also represents a terrific evolution in Bed and Breakfast magazine journalism." According to Painter, the magazine's dedication to the innkeepers for each of the four issues published annually is a significant commitment to visual and travel storytelling. ÂI have always been inspired and committed to the notion that visual storytelling accompanied with descriptive textual content can be its own form of powerful communication, and it is very exciting to be working with a publication that believes in a consistent visual format and is so open to new ideas."
"The fundamental philosophy of what we're going to do in these interviews is showcase the inns and my work will be of a textual and visual author in the tradition of the photographic story. It's quite positive, in a time when bed and breakfast lodging is becoming so uniquely sophisticated in the United States  an exciting departing from the vision of a single dwelling, sharing meals and accommodation with the owners.Â
"My first articles speak in images and text about Minnesota and Iowa inns from two entirely different perspectives. One is an interview with the current owners of a mansion previously owned by the first cousin of Bing Crosby and the other is a visit to a country inn located on a small farm in rural Iowa, said PainterÂ
Readers will also be treated to a serious discussion about Internet domain names as Painter is also the General Manager and copywriter for a Web design firm specializing in the Hospitality Industry, TotalWebDesigner. com. Painters technical savvy will most likely show-up regularly in future issues.
Painter has contributed articles to many publications over the years including the San Diego Computer Journal, JUMP (a publication written for the sales & marketing professional), the Financial Freedom Report and many more. You'll also find her articles on the Iowa and Nebraska B&B Association Web sites. A native of California, she now spends her time living in rural Iowa and traveling. She's recently launched a new personal Web site that includes several different portfolios of her textual and photographic work, along with a few personal photographs from her innkeeper interviews across America. The new site, www. ameliawrites. com, also has information on contacting her for assignments.
