RADIO TAHRIR INTERVIEWS NEW LITERARY VOICE

Emma Farry, Author of REDEMPTION

New York, NY - Radio Tahrir, on-air magazine of Arab/Muslim people in the US and abroad, will profile EMMA FARRY and her recently published novel REDEMPTION on their "Voices of the Arab/Muslim Community" program, aired every Tuesday at 7 p. m. on 99.5 FM, in June 2002.

Emma Farry, originally from New Zealand and of mixed-Lebanese descent, took New York and New Zealand by storm with the publication of her first novel-a chronicle of one man's life, as seen through the eyes of three women, who struggles with a past tormented by sexual abuse but is able to find the paths leading to understanding and forgiveness.

Midwest Book Review's "Small Press Bookwatch" for June 2002 said: "Emma Farry's Redemption is a superbly written novel set in New York and London, about Solomon Cortesi, an ordinary man who must travel to understand and free himself and his family from a curse that has brought suffering for over a century. A powerful saga, seen and related largely through the eyes of the women who are close to the enduring protagonism, Redemption is a highly recommended tale of true hope and renewal."

Keri Hulme, author of THE BONE PEOPLE, described REDEMPTION as: “A treat and a pleasure. A pleasure in the technical sense how Farry constructed her rainbow, interwove her characters, brought about a resolution. A thoroughly compelling and insightful story.”

With a background in journalism and television research, Emma Farry has worked in London, New York, and Kuala Lumpur. She won international recognition for a short story at the 1995 Harringey Literature Festival in London and is featured in the anthology VOICES OF BROOKLYN: Writings from The Women of Color Writers' Workshop.

Broadcasting from WBAI/Pacifica, Radio Tahrir reaches audiences in the greater New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut regions on 99.5 FM or over the internet with Real Audio at www. wbai. org.
