January sees the re-launch of www. thebestdeals. org. uk on a national scale in the UK. The website provides a one-stop-shop for bargain hunters looking for the latest deals and special offers online.

“We’re refreshingly different.” claims John Hawkins, the company’s Managing Director. “ There’s no tricks or misleading links to other major websites. It’s simple, fast and effective. You can browse the various categories such as designer clothing, electrical goods or holidays and choose from the latest deals on offer”

The company set up a pilot scheme of the website in Sheffield in 2005 and the early success and popularity of the website led to a quick re-think for rolling out the business nationally.

Towards the end of last year the number of visitors to the site was reported to be doubling each month.

The website has been described by users as unique in the UK as unlike other ‘price orientated’ shopping websites, it is not a directory of businesses, or a portal to dozens of other sites, including those where you have to bid for an item. With this website you can search for something you like, find out information about the deal and if you choose, buy it. Another major difference is that thebestdeals. org. uk also features local businesses. When national coverage has been completed there will be deals online that people can buy from a shop near to where they live, as well as all the national online deals.

“The concept of The Best Deals website is very much in tune with the changing habits of consumer spending.” Claims Steve Jenkinson, an independent retail analyst. “ It’s a tough trading environment both online and out on the High Street. Retailers are being pressured into making more use of promotional activity to tempt shoppers into spending. And consumers are more willing than ever to search and cherry-pick the best offers they can find.”

After receiving feedback from users the site now has a Shopping List facility. Some users were finding it difficult to remember particular deals that interested them after they had been browsing for a while through various categories. To resolve this there is now a Shopping List section to store the details of a deal for going back to it later.

Another new feature of the website allows users to register their e-mail address and mobile telephone number so that they can receive Sales Alerts as soon as new special offers are announced. It is thought that more retailers may soon adopt this form of direct marketing to inform customers of exclusive discounts and offers and to counter their competitor’s promotions.

The company plans to add all major towns and cities across the UK over the coming year as part of their commitment to include small and medium sized local businesses. There are already hundreds of deals on the website which are regularly updated. The deals categories include Electrical, Fashion, Food & Drink, Gifts, Health & Beauty, Home & Garden, Legal & Financial, Leisure, Motoring and Travel.
