How wonderful would it be to just relax in the comfort of your own home maybe by a cozy fireplace in the winter or outside by the pool in the summer and be able to walk around freely with your robe and slippers and maybe a glass of cabernet. Your spa technician arrives and sets up her massage table, lights aromatic feng shui candles, turns on some relaxing soothing music and starts you off with a European facial and tropical body scrub. Two hours of total relaxation. Once she is finished another spa technician arrives who gives you a 60 minute massage to help loosen your tight muscles and puts you in a state of total calmness. The final spa technician arrives to give the finishing touches – a 90 minute spa manicure and pedicure. What a totally blissful day and the best part is not having to get dressed and drive back home and lose that entire experience.

New Jersey Consulting Firm Advises Businesses To Pay Attention To Security When Planning Offsite Meetings

New Jersey Consulting Firm Advises Businesses To Pay Attention To Security When Planning Offsite Meetings

Meeting and Conference planners should make sure that the venues they choose have proper security protocols in place, and are prepared for emergencies that may occur while you are a guest at their facility.

Springfield, NJ (PRWEB) October 29, 2003 -

Planning a successful business meeting requires focus and attention to detail, particularly when that meeting is being conducted offsite. Selecting a venue and speakers, as well as preparing the agenda, meeting room, meals and audiovisual equipment are all important tasks. But, according to Richard M. Cordivari, Vice President of Secure Defense Systems, there's often another valuable component that's left out of the planning process - Security. This includes the security and safety of the people attending the meeting, as well as their personal and company property, both at the meeting and while in transit. Alan Breindel, President of Secure Defense Systems, cautions that as large open spaces with relatively uncontrolled access, multiple entrances, and heavy pedestrian traffic, hotels, conference centers and convention facilities are difficult to secure. "Companies have an obligation to their employees and shareholders to adopt safety and security procedures that not only protect their employees, but also guard against laptop theft and theft of proprietary corporate information", points out Mr. Breindel.

Secure Defense Systems recommends that anyone planning an offsite meeting for their company ask a few important questions, such as:

  • What do you know about the facility where the event is being held?
  • Does it have a history of incidents of theft, assault, robbery, etc.?
  • Are criminal background checks conducted for the facility's staff?
  • Have you or someone else from your company been there before?
  • Is a secure parking area available for guests and visitors? Or, can they utilize a valet service?
  • Are there any other events taking place at the same time in this venue that heighten the security profile?
  • Have you consulted with your company's security director to get his/her input about the facility you'll be visiting?
  • Does your company's meeting facilitator know whom to contact at the host property in the event of an emergency?
  • Are there written security procedures that you can review? Do they include an emergency evacuation plan?
  • Is the emergency contact information for each person attending the event up-to-date? Is it easily accessible?
  • Do you have emergency contact information for key people within your company?
  • Are you familiar with the facility's evacuation plan, and have you considered how you will respond in the event of an emergency?
  • Have you also taken steps to protect your company's property and proprietary information?

There are many other areas that can be examined, so Cordivari recommends reviewing your security and safety protocols for off site events. Seek out the assistance of your security department and, when necessary, consult a security professional with experience in the hospitality and travel industries.

Motorcycle-Maps. us Takes Riders on Roads Less Traveled

Are we there yet? Over 120,000 motorcycles were registered in North Caroline in 2008 according to the Federal Highway Administration. That number is an increase of over 27% in the last five years. Where do these riders go and how do they get there? Dennis Munden of Vass, an owner of a Honda 1800 VTX decided that bikers needed alternative maps, ones that would increase the scenic pleasure of a ride, provide locations of “Mom and Pop” eateries, repair shops, and other less-publicized biking events. Motorcycle-Maps. us was born.

“This is a great start-up venture that has found a unique niche,” said Ray Ogden, Executive Director of Partners in Progress (http://www. moorebusiness. org/), the economic development organization for Moore County. “Motorcycle-Maps. us has a great potential to grow as more bikers learn about this resource. It’s important that we support entrepreneurial companies like this because they are significant job creators, and you never know when a company will grow to become a major employer in the community.”
